Kids just grow up so fast. Clean out your closet and let us take your gently used, outgrown winter coats off your hands during HudCo’s coat drive all this week, December 14 through 18, 9a-6p. There are many local families in need of the extra warmth this winter, and SPRING Community Partners will work to connect those in need with the coats you provide.
And we want to sincerely thank our friends at Haute Hamper for volunteering their services to clean all used donations so that this effort is both as COVID-safe and sanitary as possible.
First step: please visit our sign up form to tell us what size coat you’ll be bringing. SPRING has sent us specific sizing needs that we’re hoping to fulfill. Then bring your donations (or, better yet, new coats) to HudCo down at 145 Palisade Street in Dobbs Ferry.
A little background on SPRING: In the fall of 2007, four kindergarten students without snacks and warm winter clothing inspired a few concerned teachers and parents to SPRING into action, so they organized a holiday drive for coats and gifts. Soon a small network of parents became “Snack Fairies” for young students without healthy snacks.
Many families in our community struggle to meet basic needs or find themselves in difficult circumstances. That’s where SPRING steps in to help.
SPRING provides funding or sponsors for families with school-aged children challenged by the costs of school supplies, clothing and food. We encourage participation in various in-school and extracurricular programs through financial assistance.
Let us know if you have any further questions. And keep following the HudCo Journal for more ways to give back this month.
