A few weeks ago, our co-founder Christina Cohen hosted her son Micah’s bar mitzvah at HudCo, and it was truly a night to remember. Christina is an experienced interior designer who made HudCo the highly functioning space it is. So we were excited to see how she would transform the space for the event.
From the bespoke baseball details in the table signs to the oversized video wall backdrop and illuminated stage, everything was considered in this party of a lifetime. “It was the best day of my life!” Christina says. Let’s look at what made it so special.
A Floorplan with a Focus
The best part about the party? The dancing. The floorplan allowed for ample space for dancing and games with plenty of seating for adults and children to watch. The energy was up all night with the video wall backdrop projecting animated graphics, old photos, and Micah’s custom logo (designed by Christina’s fellow co-founder Christy Knell) behind the illuminated stage. The DJ crew from Jimmy Dee Entertainment were set up in the corner, always able to see how the attendees were vibing to the tunes.
The Big Entrance
After the crowd had some time to mingle, it was time to introduce the guests of honor. The long banquette tables for the kids acted as a runway for the family’s entrance to the party. The Atrium, with it’s long velvet drapes, was the perfect staging area for the family.
The Hora
The high ceilings of the Hudson River Landing building are perfect for an exciting Hora. The stage was right underneath the prominent Kelly Wearstler light fixture, creating a powerful backdrop for the Hora photos!
Inside Baseball: The Details
The 10-top round tables throughout the space were “reserved” for the “legends” while the long white banquets were for the “rookies,” keeping with the baseball theme. The navy seating rentals from Elite/PBS Tents & Events were a sophisticated way of leaning into the color palette. Whispy, neutral florals from Adonia Floral Design adorned the tables.
