Songs of the Summer, Plus New Members

by | Aug 18, 2024

It has been quite the lively summer down here at HudCo; from dozens of new members joining our ship, to the launch of Book Bar and plenty of other fun-filled events we’ve hosted, the season has been spectacular to say the least! As summer comes to a close, Andrew’s been compiling our members’ “Songs of the Summer” to highlight what tracks have been heaviest in their rotation. Some had a brat summer, others spent theirs at the Pink Pony Club, while others jammed out to some timeless classics. Meet some of our newest members, and listen to the HudCo summer soundtrack on Spotify, full track list down below!

Flavie Fuentes

Resides in: Dobbs Ferry
Profession: I am a lawyer and work as the pro bono director at the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, a nonprofit that protects journalists’ newsgathering rights and freedom of the press across the country.
Favorite local business: We recently moved here but I was very impressed with the cheese selection at Bloomy.
Fun fact: I play drums (but I am an eternal beginner).
Current favorites: I am re-reading A Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez and am struck once again by his genius. I am also obsessed with Vampire Weekend’s last album which I have been listening to for at least a million times.

Lindsay Gerspach

Resides in: I’ve been in Ardsley for the last 8 years.
Profession: Coming off a 20 year career as a marketing executive, I am in the midst of a big career change! I recently founded The Lark (Instagram), coming to Irvington early fall 2024. The Lark is a modern fitness studio, social sanctuary, and wellness space all rolled into one! I really wanted to create a special place for women that enables members to be the best version of themselves. What we crave on any given day is different—maybe you need to move your body and sweat it out in class, maybe you just need some social connectivity and retail therapy, maybe you want to learn more about mindfulness and how to start that practice. We believe that the world gets better when women take up the space they deserve, and I am really excited to bring this concept to life!
Favorite local business: There are so many great businesses here in the Rivertowns! I am blown away by what you’ve built at HudCo, it’s such a special place supporting so many amazing people, businesses, and events. I couldn’t live without The Beauty Parlor, Josephine has been saving my hair for close to a decade now. Sasha Marie Interiors is my go-to for design help—she did my house and is working with me now on The Lark. Hom Market is the most beautiful shop I have ever seen—Britt has impeccable taste. I could go on and on!
Fun fact: I was a dance major in college which is usually a pretty big surprise to people based on my previous career path.
Currently reading/listening to: I just read Adam Grant’s new-ish book, Hidden Potential, and loved it. It’s incredibly insightful and actionable. I love Mel Robbins and listen to her podcast weekly but I also binge Smartless episodes when I just want to escape and laugh hysterically.

Kerrie M. Lopez

Resides in: Dobbs Ferry
Profession: I’m the founder of November Collective, where I help new and established brands scale through integrated marketing, partnerships and e-commerce strategy. I’m also the chief marketing officer at Chiyo, where we’re defining the future of maternal nutrition with stage-specific, holistic meal programs for every phase of motherhood, from fertility through postpartum. Follow along at @wearechiyo.
Give a shoutout to one of your favorite local businesses: You can find us at The Good Witch and Hastings Farmers Market every weekend. Joanna’s house-made gluten-free muffins + a strong cortado = my perfect Saturday morning.

What’s a fun fact about yourself?
I’ve cooked live on the Today Show with Katie Couric and Al Roker.
What excites you most about HudCo? I am excited to connect even more deeply with my local community and network with other small businesses. I’ve focused most of my marketing consulting work on helping small businesses scale through building low cost channels like social, influencer, and email programs so if I can ever be helpful, shoot me a message or email. I also love learning about what others are building—let’s grab a coffee and chat!

Curtis Pope

Resides in: Tarrytown
Profession:
Owner, Pope Wealth Planning, LLC
Financial Advisor (CFP® + Certified Financial Therapist™). serious > @curtispope, fun > @popewealthplanning
Favorite local business: This is tough since we’re SO spoiled with incredible small businesses in the Rivertowns. But I’ll shout out the Fit Inn (Tarrytown). Until last year I was never a “gym person” but now I’m totally hooked and go most mornings. The classes are small, trainers are very knowledgeable, and it’s an incredibly supportive community of people 🙂
Fun fact: From age 18-35 I moved a few times. More specifically… MI > MA > Beijing > Boston > NYC > Sleepy Hollow > MI > NYC > Tarrytown, where we finally bought a place, are having a baby in August, and plan to stay put!
What excites you most about HudCo? The opportunity to meet other people here. I’ve met several other business owners, creatives, etc. and it’s so interesting hearing what other folks are up to 🙂

Currently watching: Really enjoying Welcome to Wrexham on Hulu!

Tina Villaveces

Resides in: Pound Ridge, NY
Profession:
Founder and Director, Yellow Studio and Yellow Studio Gallery
Favorite local business: In2Green—I love popping in whenever I am in town. (I live in Upper Westchester.) It’s such a wonderfully curated shop.
Fun fact: Orange is my favorite color.
Reading lately: I recently read Tomorrow, Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin and it was phenomenal.
