From Fonts to Felonies, Meet New Friends

by | Apr 13, 2025

Ever wonder who’s working beside you, sipping coffee, chasing deadlines, or sneaking in a podcast between meetings? This batch of new members have stories that span felony prosecution to children’s lungs, software design to snowboarding, game design to gorgeous handwriting. They love local cheese, classic beauty magazines, old sitcoms, and finding the perfect ski mountain (out east, no less). Without further delay, some new members:

Charlotte Bismuth

Resides in: Chappaqua
Profession: I’m a freelance editor and translator, working exclusively by referral. I have no social media presence and can’t wait to ditch my smartphone!
Favorite local business: I tried (unsuccessfully) to explain 1980s hair, makeup, fashion, and society to my kids. Until I wandered into Trilogy Consignment (in Tarrytown) and found a Mademoiselle magazine issue from 1982. We had so much fun going through it.
Fun fact: I used to prosecute felony narcotics crimes.

Currently listening to: I live for the Real Survival Stories podcast. Nothing soothes me more than the gritty facts of a tough mountain rescue … and it has inspired me to push myself harder on the slopes.

Amy Brown

Resides in: I live nearby in Irvington and have lived in the Rivertowns for 9 years.
Profession: I am a pediatric pulmonologist on a clinician-educator academic track, which means that I spend my time seeing patients (in the hospital setting) and teaching. My primary employer is Boston Children’s Health Physicians (@lungdocs), but I have appointments with both New York Medical College and Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital. I also do a lot of work for NYSCHECK (@nyscheck)—an amazing NYS DOH grant funded organization that promotes children’s environmental health.
Favorite local businesses: So many! But if I had to pick one, I absolutely adore Danielle at Little House in Hastings. We met years ago when our kids were in pre-school at the Little Red and it is just amazing to see her business flourish from Brooklyn to the Rivertowns.
Fun fact: I have very neat handwriting; which has been a humorous oxymoron of my medical career.
Currently listening to: My son, Owen (almost 7) is newly obsessed with the 1970s/80s show, Diff’rent Strokes. We now watch it together before bed and it reminds me of my love for Nick at Nite when I was growing up. There’s so much joy in laughing together at old TV sitcoms.

Lauren Ladd

Resides in: Dobbs Ferry
Profession: Director of Product at Autodesk (3D design software)
Favorite local business: Climbing Wolf is simply the best for welcoming babies/toddlers so their tired parents can enjoy a beer and coffee all in one place.
Fun fact: I lived in northern California for 7 years where I learned how to snowboard in Lake Tahoe. Trying to find ski mountains out east that can stack up! (Ed note: Good luck 😬)
Current TV show you can’t get enough of: My husband, Trevor, got me into The Pitt after being an ER watcher growing up — but be warned, some of the episodes can be too heavy for before bedtime!

Adina Miretsky

Resides in: Fleetwood
Profession: Creative Team at Bonnie and Pop
Give a shoutout to one of your favorite local businesses: Bloomy Cheese! Love this shop for discovering new and interesting snacks and treats.

What’s a fun fact about yourself?
I grew up in California loving hiking, snowboarding, and being in the ocean.
What excites you most about HudCo? That it’s a place that invites and inspires creativity.

Gabe Smedresman

Resides in: Saw Mill Lofts in Ardsley — looking for where we’re going to land longer term now.
Profession:
I’m a software engineer and game designer
Favorite local business: L’Inizio in Ardsley has been our go-to date night — Tom’s Trains in Ardsley was an awesome place to take our 5-year-old as he got acclimated to our new area.
Fun fact: I’m a published author on occult renaissance typography.

What excites you most about HudCo? Austin’s coffee artistry. And Sara’s bookshop!!! More book club please — maybe one day I’ll be able to show up!
