Shop Monday for DF Schools

by | Apr 11, 2021

On Monday, April 12, we are so delighted that Picture Book is partnering with the Dobbs Ferry Schools Foundation for a back-to-full-time-school book fair! Picture Book will generously donate 10% of all sales that day to the DFSF. You can shop in person (come and see us!) or online.

The DFSF is a local, tax-exempt, not-for-profit charitable organization with one purpose: to provide financial resources that enhance the educational environment throughout the Dobbs Ferry Schools, enabling the District to provide opportunities to students that are not possible using District budget funds alone.

The DFSF works with school administration, principals and faculty to accelerate innovation and to support strategic goals, programs, curriculum and equipment.

Founded by Dobbs Ferry parents in 1994, they’ve raised over $4.5 million through individual contributions, as well as through public and private grants. In the last 12 months alone, the DFSF has provided funding for important initiatives such as administration training with the Metropolitan Center for Research on Equity and the Transformation of Schools Program, funding for a district-wide School Safety and Mental Health Crisis Intervention training for staff and community members which will impact students in grades K-12, and partnered with the Dobbs Ferry PTSA to provide clear masks for every teacher in the Dobbs Ferry.

Picture Book is an independent bookstore created by Springhurst Elementary School parent Sara Davidson Johns. You can find the best books for your kids with ease from the curated selection, while also discovering your own grown-up “picture book”—a gorgeous new cookbook, that hot new novel you keep hearing about, or a stunning monograph on a contemporary artist.

PS: Hand Held Kitchen food truck will be outside selling sandwiches from 11:30am to 2:30pm!
